Message Tom? He sent me your link offering services on some local RI website. I mentioned that I didn't know you but had no reason to think you were shady (based on your post history here), though there was some negative feedback in some of your posts.

Hope you get your situation resolved with your slumlord. As for this guy, I'd say you were in the wrong for not presenting him with two options; 1) leave the car and not have it done by July 1st, or 2) tow it to an alternate location for completion by July 1st. I'd be pissed if someone towed my car without my knowledge.

Let him call the cops, and if they come, hand him the keys without issue and let him take his non-functioning Z. Or tell him that you need to be paid to finish the work, then finish the work (ONLY after receiving payment), then let him drive off.
